Moto Guzzi Ayrton Senna 20th Anniversary Tribute Bike by Marcus Walz
2014 being the twentieth anniversary of Formula One legend Ayrton Senna’s passing at Imola, the German builder Marcus Walz has crafted a stunning limited edition Moto Guzzi Le Mans in his honour. Based on 1970s Moto Guzzis from the Le Mans Mark I series, the Ayrton Senna Tribute Bikes are completely rebuilt from the ground up, with custom bodywork finished in colours inspired by Senna’s famous helmet designs, taken from the Brazilian flag and painted by Sid Mosca. The 850cc engine has been bored out to 1040cc, so that it now makes 90hp, while weight has been pared down to around 175 kilos. The complete bodywork, including the fuel tank, seat section, headlight fairing and front fender is handmade from 1.5mm aluminium sheet metal. The sandblasted and powdercoated frame is joined by an upgraded suspension with new fork tubes, internals, and progressive springs, while at the back you can find YSS Z-Series shocks with adjustable preload, rebound and length. The original 18″ Le Mans cast wheels are black powdercoated and shod with Avon Roadrider tyres sized 110/80 at the front and and 130/80 at the back. Braking is taken care of by Brembo two-piston calipers at both ends, clamping on drilled stainless steel rotors. LSL clip-on bars and hand-fabricated, fully adjustable rearsets complete the picture. Only three have been made, with the second and third examples going to customers in Brazil and Switzerland. The first bike is still owned by WalzWerk Racing to display on events and exhibitions around the world.
