BMW R80RT Custom by Vagabund

.

This BMW R80RT was customized by Vagabund Moto, a motorcycle shop from Austria.

Vagabund Moto was founded in late 2015 by" Paul Brauchart ", industrial designer and" Philipp Rabl ", mechanical engineer with the idea of transforming Vintage motorcycles into functional works of art.

“We found it’s best to just get rid of all the puzzling BMW wires and start from scratch,” says Paul.

Once the 1990 R80RT was in its workshop, the first thing was to strip it completely of its large fairing.

Basically starting from scratch, first up was modifying the tank position to ensure the right lines were in place for a more dynamic modern machine.

To further accentuate the shape of the ride, the reconstructed rear frame was then repositioned and welded, as all in all, all unnecessary components were discarded. Now, the V05’s exhaust system, battery placement, electronics and lights are all highlighted even more so due to the minimalistic design.

Vagabund Moto aimed at keeping the bike vintage, all while infusing various futuristic elements.  This in turn included classic aluminium parts and modern details of a complementary yellow stripe and tonal-grey rear wheel.

“The headlight is a unique piece designed by us and handmade out of a flat piece of aluminium by local metal artist Berni from Blechmann. He’s someone we often collaborate with.”

Key features include modified R80RT fuel tank, R75/5 airbox and starter cover, Kustom Tech ‘Grimeca’ brake master cylinder, the Domino ‘Classic’ clutch lever, Motogadget ‘M-blaze Disc’ bar-end indicators, which are matched to the ‘M-blaze Pin’ rear turn signals that are inside the ‘camouflaged’ license plate holder, a under-seat tail light housing and, a ‘moon’ cap on the rear wheel.
