BMW R nineT Hera Project by South Garage

.

The Italian publication Chop and Roll Magazine commissioned South Garage Moto Co to design and oversee a the development of the BMW R nineT Hera Project.

Metalbike Garage, who had previously also developed a similar design, furthered the development of their distinctive one-piece aluminium alloy body.

By using 3D software a new wooden body buck, which was a requirement for this new build, was developed before the final shape was milled.   For the new bodywork to fit the pre-existing BMW brackets took a lot of effort.  The final piece was shaped by hand to fit and effort was made to save drilling and welding.

The new titanium twin exhaust was painstakingly welded in small sections to match the required curves.

A pair of engine guards were fitted around the heads for protection, with a new aluminum fender.

Rizoma provided most of the parts, including the brake fluid reservoirs, levers, head covers, integrated indicators in the handlebars and pegs. Grimeca created brake rotors specifically for this bike, Metzeler provided the dual sport tires to give the BMW grip both on road and off, and the wheels were handmade by the team at JoNich.

A set of custom-built Öhlins with gold upper tubes and black lower hydraulic chambers, by Andreani Group relpaced the original ones.

To improve handling a new monoshock was fitted.

The in-house made seat runs from the fuel cap back to the traditional seat location, allowing the rider to shift their weight forward and back, like enduro riders do.
