Ducati MHR1000 Rino Caracchi Tribute by Stile Italiano

.

This Ducati MHR1000 build by Stile Italiano is a tribute to Rino Caracchi, in honour of his incredible achievements, who passed away in 2018 and was one of the founders of NCR, a mechanical workshop where they built racing bikes.

NCR, founders, Rino Caracchi, Giorgio Nepoti and Rizzi, (and later just Rino and Giorgio) were a group of Italian engineers who laid the groundwork for Ducati’s racing success.  They built Ducati race bikes when the Ducati factory didn’t have a racing programme of their own during the 1970s.

They created unique bikes, of which the best known of all is probably the Ducati 900NCR on which Mike Hailwood won the 1978 Formula 1 World Championship in the Isle of Man.

Ducati built the 1000 MHR, the last Ducati production bike to feature their bevel drive system, which was hung in a specially made double cradle DASPA frame, and the first to make use of an electric starter, to celebrate Hailwood’s success.

Loris Lessio of Stile Italiano built this Ducati MHR1000 Rino Caracchi Tribute, with a modern reinterpretation of the 1984 MHR 1000 donor bike.

The 1000cc L-twin engine remains mostly original but is now fed by a pair of Dell’orto PHM40 carburettors with velocity stacks.  A custom exhaust system designed by Stile Italiano and created by Virex was fitted.

A a complete Öhlins FG950 front suspension using Ducati 888 alloy triple trees, was fitted to improve the suspension, as well as at the rear, the factory cantilever swingarm is managed by an Öhlins mono-shock.

TT2 5 spoke replica rims from Marvic is used with track-ready Michelin slicks.  The braking system is a Brembo system with ORO discs, billet callipers and ORO master cylinders.

The Ducati electric system was replaced with Motogadget components and instruments, and has been fitted with a set of custom CNCed rearsets and clip ons.

In classic Stile style, the one-off body utilises a monocoque, single piece design, which has been hand formed from sheet aluminium.

Stile Italiano decided to use a red, silver and gold Ducati scheme or this unique project.
