Honda VFR 750 Dakar by Chilly Racing
This unusual Honda VFR 750 '91 Dakar project was realized by Spanish workshop, Chilly Racing of Carlos Avendaño, who has been dealing with Dakar bikes preparation for some time. Carlos is a driver who has competed in motocross, enduro and rally raid, including two Dakar, riding a motorcycle and three in the truck category. The project involved a ton of work to have the bike ready to receive the mandatory adventure add-on that needed to be installed, and Carlos remembers how much plastic and metal bracket welding was involved in the fabrication process. It took Carlos around six weeks of painstaking work to get the job done, but the result is worth the effort. There are parts sourced from various other bikes, and the list includes a KTM SX, a Suzuki RM-Z, a Yamaha YZF, and a Honda CR. The Showa front fork is a unit derived from a 250 CR 1993, shortened and equipped with new more resistant springs, seen the brunt of the VFR. A supermoto CR front rim that uses wire spokes, was used. The brakes are Brembo, with KTM fitting Nissin pump. The oil cooler was relocated to avoid unwanted contact with rocks and debris, the same fate has befallen the fuel tap, modified and put back on the left of the bike to be activated manually. The dual headlights on the big number plate mask are LED. A nice touch are the speedometer and rev counter, housed in a 'road book' in Dakar perfect style. Source chillyracing.com
