Indian Scout “Miracle Mike” by Young Guns Speed Shop

.

This special machine – with a nitrous oxide system mated to the Scout’s 1133cc v-twin engine was build for the summer of sprint racing at the Café Racer Festival near Paris.

“It’s been an incredible six months with over 700 hours of work invested in this build,” exclaims Nik Heer. “Myself and Fabian have built many bike projects before but Miracle Mike has been our most ambitious. We’re blown away by the reaction we’ve had here at Art & Wheels.”

Miracle Mike, named after Mike the Headless Chicken, has been built with the official support of Indian Motorcycle and is a true American/European collaboration with parts sourced from motorcycling brands such as Öhlins (Sweden), Brembo (Italy), Wizards of NOS (UK), LSL Motorcycle Parts (Germany), Metzeler tyres (Germany) and Motogadget (Germany).

Young Guns Speed Shop  began by upgrading the standard suspension with new Ohlins USD forks at the front, and a set of shocks to compliment them at the rear. The brakes are Brembo M50 units controlled by a Magura master cylinder.  To keep the weight down, and the sports appeal up,  a lightweight Excel Supermoto rim was sourced for the rear wheel, and an R90 unit was rolled out for the front. Both were then shod with Metzler Racetec rubber.

To help save weight, and make the bike look more sporty, Young Guns ditched the stock fuel tank, fabricating their own that was narrower than the stock unit.  A healthy amount of Motogadget accessories were used instead of the weighty stock units from Indian. When it was all said and done, Young Guns shaved over 50 kg / 110 lbs off the Indian Scout, to make it 198 kg / 436 lbs wet.

The engine was sent away for a specialist rebuild to Swissauto and is now producing 185hp at the rear wheel, which translates to around 200hp at the crank. That’s a metric 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.  The all-important wet NOS system was fitted for a real gut punch of power.

The exhaust was replaced with a custom unit, nicely tipped with an Akrapovic muffler.
