Having started operations back in 2009
by Sergio Bayarri, CEO and founder, SBAY Motor Company operates
out of Spain. One of their products is the Omega, a
two-wheeled profoundness which pushes the boundaries of
conventional motorcycle design with its unorthodox approach.
According to SBAY, the Omega is “a bike that leaves aside what
is ‘normal’ to focus on what matters most, the road”.
Built around
the Harley Davidson V-Rod Revolution engine, the custom
motorcycle is held together by an unique, omega type frame,
draped with carbon fiber monocoque bodywork. But special flavor
is emanated from the unabashedly unconventional, hub center
steering system and swing-arm based front suspension. Tipping
the scales at just 190 kgs, the Omega also sports a single sided
swing-arm setup at the rear.
The complex hub center steering system is
built by ISR Sweden, while steering is operated by push-pull
cables. The uncustomary swing-arm front suspension has been
designed and built in-house by SBAY in CNC machined 7075
aluminium, and is complimented by the side mounted Öhlins
dampers allowing 120 mm wheel travel. The rear is held up with a
single sided swing-arm setup along with a floating Öhlins
monoshock on progressive linkage, which allows up to 110 mm of
wheel travel.
The Harley-Davidson Revolution V-Twin
liquid cooled engine displaces 76 cubic inches (1247cc) and is
good for 125 hp of power. Mated to a 5 speed integrated gearbox,
the engine sends power to the rear wheel using a chain driven
final transmission. Cradling the oily bits is the distinctive
chassis – an Omega type frame, CNC machined with 7075 aluminium,
and littered with carbon fiber subframes. Designed and
manufactured in house by SBAY Motor Company, the frame is
composed of two main parts and joining elements made from a CNC
machined single block of high strength aluminium .
Components on the Omega are handpicked,
and includes the very best in the business, such as Brembo,
Rizoma, Motogadget, ISR or Galfer. This radical motorcycle
retails for 48,000 €.
