Yamaha XV950 "Playa del Rey" by Matt Black Custom Designs
“Inspired by the custom bobber scene, the Yamaha XV950 is a really fun bike to ride with its punchy V-twin motor. The design is timeless, paying tribute to the cool custom machines of the bobber scene but complemented with modern components for reliability and class leading performance. This combination of new and old mixed together is something we saw in the work of Matt Black’s previous builds,” commented Yamaha Motor Europe Product Manager, Shun Miyazawa. “As a result we knew they were the right people to take on the latest XV950 Yard Built project and the result is amazing. They’ve kept all the fun of the standard bike, but shown you can use it as a base to easily build something iconic with a perfect blend of vintage and modern without compromising the ride.”
This bike has been guilt by Matt Black Custom Designs in San Pedro. The fantastic paint job is the product of Ray Hill and the balance of colours and pin striping underscores uniqueness of racers over the past 100 years.
Many parts such as the tank are hand made with the leather saddle being one of the most outstanding and original parts of the bike. Add the unique springer front fork, Öhlins rear shocks, custom made fuel filler cap, headlight and single dial speedo and you have a truly unique bike.
