Honda VFR 1200X Crosstourer / DCT
You probably know someone like this. Maybe it’s your brother-in-law, or your neighbor, or some guy at your workplace. He’s always telling you what he’s going to do . . . but he never really does anything. But there’s another kind of guy too—someone who turns every day into something that’s fun. Every weekend he comes back with a story to tell, even if he never crossed a state line. Honda’s new VFR1200X is built for people who know adventure isn’t someplace you go, it’s what you do getting there. It’s an excellent machine for exploring the world around you, and doing it in comfort, confidence, and style. Sporty, athletic, nimble enough for around-town cruising or tight winding back roads, it’s also big enough to reel in those highway miles, and see the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, and the Alamo all in the same trip. And the new VFR1200X is loaded with features too—the most important being its 1237cc V4 engine and choice of six-speed transmissions. Best of all, we’re offering a ton of accessories, so you can fine-tune it to how you want to ride. Where will a new 2016 Honda VFR1200X take you? Wherever adventure calls. Many roads. One motorcycle. To travel by motorcycle is to fully experience life. And by blending technology from across Honda’s range the Crosstourer is a high performance ticket to ride. Powered by a refined V4 engine, with sophisticated electronics and rugged chassis to match, it is an accomplished all-rounder. Where could it take you? Built for life on the move Ready for the long haul, two-up and loaded or the cut and thrust of the city, the Crosstourer is built to soak up whatever it rolls over. Durable bodywork cuts aggressive angles with a small frontal area and yet it offers plenty of weather protection. The seat profile is carefully shaped to deliver comfort and easy ground reach, computerised self-cancelling indicators mean you’ll never spare them a second thought, while the compact ‘wave’ design ignition key improves security. READY FOR ANYTHING For wherever the road leads the Crosstourer’s chassis deals out surefooted ability with nimble handling. The lightweight and massively strong aluminium twin-spar frame features an optimised rigidity balance and supple suspension – 43mm inverted forks and Pro-Link rear monoshock – that irons out surface imperfections. Combined ABS (C-ABS) links front and rear brakes serving up balanced stopping power for more stable deceleration, with the added safety of an Anti-lock Braking System. While a relaxed and upright riding position brings all-day comfort. The power to perform Dynamically suited for sports touring duty, the 1,237cc V4 engine drives out large amounts of usable power, with linear torque from low rpm and a soulful feel thanks to the uneven firing order, due to offset crankpins. Response is razor-sharp thanks to PGM-FI fuel injection and acceleration is instant in any of the six gears. A sophisticated Torque Control System (TCS) constantly monitors and maintains rear wheel traction and offers 3 stages of control, covering all riding conditions. Final drive is via maintenance-free shaft.
V4 Power The VFR1200X’s V4 isn’t just another engine—it’s a spectacular example of motorcycling’s best. Case in point: the two rear cylinders are closer together than the front two, making the engine narrower where your legs are. Smart engineering! Two Transmission Choices Take your pick between a conventional six-speed manual transmission or our third-generation automatic DCT: six speeds, push-button shifting, your choice of shift modes. Shaft Final Drive Clean, efficient, proven, low-maintenance. Shaft final drive is the perfect choice on a top-of-the-line machine like the VFR1200X. One-Hand Adjustable Windscreen One size doesn’t fit all—and neither does one windscreen. Adjusting the VFR1200X’s windscreen only takes one hand and a couple of seconds. Selectable Shift Modes When you choose the Automatic DCT model, you can scroll between standard “D” mode, three sport modes, and even the option to “manually” shift up or down with the handlebar-mounted buttons. Adventures Should be Where You Go, Not Wondering if Your Bike Will Get There. The motorcyclist’s corollary: the further you adventure from home, the more you need your bike to be reliable—and, we might add, comfortable. VFR1200X riders know they’ve come to the right place. But hey, that’s a big reason why you choose a Honda in the first place, right? Because serious riders know that nobody can match Honda’s reputation for smart engineering that you can count on to work—no matter how far you ride. Options & Pricing
The VFR1200X is loaded with features, but perhaps the most impressive is the option to choose between a conventional 6-speed manual transmission or our latest, third-generation Honda Automatic DCT transmission. With the DCT, you upshift or downshift with a pair of handlebar-mounted buttons, or you can let the gearbox shift for itself. Features & Options
