Honda CB 500S
The CB500 is Honda’s take on the modern middleweight commuter bike, but with some differences. The engine is a conventional liquid-cooled parallel twin, with four-valve heads and balance shaft. The chassis is similarly unremarkable, being based around a simple steel-tube cradle frame, with a twin-shock rear swingarm and 37mm (1.5in) front forks holdin rather narrow 43cm (17in) wheels and tyres. The CB500 was never designed as a race bike, so when Honda launched a one-make roadster. But the lightly-modified bikes used in the series turned out to be surprisingly capable.
