Honda CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird
2002 New EFI mapping to comply with emission standards which eliminate abrupt throttle response at low speeds. Manufacturer's power and torque figures reduced to 152 hp (113.3 kW) and 87.8 ft-lb (119 Nm) for some countrys.
Updated for 2001, the Blackbird becomes more of a colorful beast with a selection of new colors, well, just silver really and a black frame! Realizing that they have been spanked on the performance front by the Hayabusa and ZX-12R, Honda are consolidating the Blackbird's position by focusing the bike more towards fast touring that sporty touring. The screen on the 2001 bike is taller to allow for longer, wind free trips at high speeds. That'll be motorways then. A new set of clocks has the tacho mounted in the center of the panel with LCD readouts either side. A styling hint taken from fighter planes maybe…. To keep ahead of impending emissions laws the Blacky gets cats only seen on the German and Austrian bikes before. Honda claims that the new catalyst can reduce emissions without reducing the awesome power of the 1100cc missile. To achieve this the exhaust system has been tweaked, and the result is not just an equal amount of power, despite the cats, but an extra 11bhp. Source: Bikenet
Honda's CBR1100XX gobbles up pavement in big chunks thanks to its brawny 1,137 cc DOHC inline-four engine. And reliable? Just ask Peter Hoogeveen, who rode a CBR1100XX to third place in last year's incredibly gruelling Ironbutt Rally. But what really sets this Gentlemanís Express apart is its amazing smoothness and sophisticated feel. Kilometre after long kilometre, the CBR1100XX's twin gear-driven counterbalancers and comfortable ergonomics make sure that you spend your seat time admiring the scenery, not searching for the next rest stop. There's lots to see in this big country. What are you waiting for? Engine · Lightweight 1137cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with one-piece
upper-crankcase/cylinder block.
Suspension · Twin-spar diamond-configuration aluminum frame offers light weight and
high rigidity. Additional Features · Tall windscreen design provides additional rider weather protection.
· The fairing has been designed to reduce the number of panels. Gas-assist
injection technology is used to increase strength and lower weight.
· Front turn signals utilize a multi-reflector design and are integrated
with the rearview mirrors, achieving improved airflow characteristics.
