Launched in January 1987, NS-R is the faired version of the NS-F, a bike that met commercial success formidable. NS-R was intended then the dual result to update the range, making it both pleasing to those who wanted at all costs a fully faired bike, but even without proposing a completely new model which increases the sales price. Indeed, the four houses leading manufacturer of Road 125, Honda Italy has always been that instead of seeking the exasperation of performance on each update of its models, rather trying to refine them more docile, civilians and trying to maintain an optimal relationship money.

NS-R is certainly an example of Strategy at the heart of the house Atessa in 1987 introduced the revolutionary Aprilia AF1 108 Project, the beautiful and fast Cagiva C9 Gilera KK. These were bikes that were a generation ahead in terms of driveability and performance to NS, but, nevertheless, preferred to defer submitting a Honda motorcycle that was more aggressive than F, but at the same time avoiding exasperated with technical solutions that have game- strength further up the shot with competition forcing her to respond with even more exaggerated and expensive models. It was a losing strategy, since the same Honda to stay in the saddle to the market, then had to submit only one year after the revolutionary F-NSR 31cv well with aluminum frame. And of course replied compete with other more sophisticated models and peppered!

Price in 1987: 4,195,000 turnkey Lira (Lira 300,000 extra for the version RII)

Colors: White / Red with white circles the R. Rothmans replica staining for RII.

The bike soon

Basically the "R" does not differ from the "F" and the only real novelty of the instrumentation appears to be different and sporty design with a white background (identical to RII). The frame is painted a darker gray than the "F" as this 1987 version, adopt new platforms and aluminum shifter and brake. Chassis and engine remain unchanged, although the version "RII" is equipped with dual disc brakes front and cover-seat passenger. The dry weight measured by marking a small increase due to the full fairing that brings the total 117.5kg (115kg NS-F)

Regarding performance, the data collected reveal a slight improvement, probably due to a tuning of the engine thrust slightly: the maximum power to the wheel is reported to be 20.1 at 9250 rpm (19.56cv 9250giri to the NS-F) evidence of recovery in the 400 meters to 50km / h, the NS-R recorded a time of 20.906 and an output speed of 94.240 km / h (20.245 sec 96.260 km / h F) The speed 'and recorded maximum' of 140.5 km / ha compared with 138.350 km / h recorded by F.
