NSR-R SP 91 (JC20)

Designed for Sport Production championship, the NSR 91 and SP 'version in a limited series produced by Honda in 1991 to race in the Italian Sport Production and sold at a price of 6,648,000 lire. Produced in one livery vistosissima White / Blue / Yellow / Red / White, the SP 91 and 'a NSR-R with various technical improvements designed to make it even more' athletic performance and suitable for use. We see the main differences in respect to the NSR-R "base":

New group 5 thermal transfer ports with new distribution diagram with more stringent
Compression ratio 14,5:1 led to
New, more compact crankshaft superior in balancing
New generator
Primary drive Straight cut
New exhaust system complete with final aluminum Arrow and recalibration of the carburetor Dell'Orto PHBH 28
Deleting electric start which is replaced by the crank.
Calibration sportier front fork (always traditional Marzocchi telescopic hydraulic fork with 35mm) and adoption of a new Marzocchi rear shock absorber adjustable in spring preload and damping.
New floating front brake disc (always 318mm) instead of the fixed base mounted on the NSR
Pirelli MT 75 with racing compound
Crown ergal and chain transmission racing
Elimination of the center stand
Anyone who has ever driven a NSR "base" knows very well how reliable and intuitive to drive, but also able to provide respectable performance. Performance but are far away from competitors: the suspension is too soft and a very sweet engine, with an amperage of power make the NSR "base" of a movement that is much quieter replicas produced by fierce competition. With modifications, the SP 91, however, excels where other NSR sin extremely rigid suspension and an engine that loves to turn up, the SP is definitely a different bike. While maintaining the proverbial balance of the NSR, the new SP acquires the nastiness that can go there with low commitment and high security. Now has a calibrated range for recreational use, a single rear pluriregolabile and an engine reaches 11,000 rpm with great wickedness, frame ALCAST can finally show all of its great dynamic qualities. Some teething you are still here and then feel bad that forks digest any roughness (on the SP 91 are not adjustable) and a motor that virtually has no intention of going below 3000 rpm and with an obvious gap between supply 5000 and 6000 rpm.

The SP 91 detects a maximum power of 29.7 hp at the wheel 10,400 rpm and a maximum speed of 167.7 km / h. In tests on shooting 400 yards from 50km / h, the SP recording a time of 21.5 and an output speed of 83.5 km / h, a value very low and had bizarre delivery engine under 6000 rpm.

NSR SP 92

Presented at the Milan Show in November 1991 and sold in 1992, the SP 92 is the development of valid SP 91che had won the title of the class under 21 with Fabio Colombo. Produced in 600 copies (Regulation SP to the 1992 season provided a minimum of 500 samples to obtain approval) in one elegant Rothmans livery directly inspired by the NSR 250 and 500 of Luca Cadalora and Mike Doohan and sold the price of 6,780 Lira .000, the SP 92 is a SP 91con few technical improvements designed to make it even more powerful. We see the main differences with the previous SP:

New cylinder distribution diagram with revised lights and magazines.
New head. Compression ratio unchanged.
New exhaust system always terminal aluminum Arrow
New electronic
Sixth gear ratio shortened
Marzocchi front fork (also 35mm) now equipped with adjustable preload and practical drainage holes at the base of the sliders to change the oil without disassembling the fork
With modifications, the SP 92 maintains the nastiness of the previous model while resolving some of its defects, however, the youth: the new Marzocchi fork with adjustable preload now allows more scope for action and the engine has a new distribution diagram which allows not only an extension in addition to 11,000 rpm set, but at the same time reduce the holes supply mid-range typical of SP 91. The decrease speed in fifth-sixth passage was eliminated by adopting a shorter final gear ratio. The SP 92 detects a maximum power of 29.9 hp to the wheel at 10,500 rpm and a maximum speed of 168.6 km / h. In tests on shooting 400 yards from 50km / h, the SP recorded a time of 21.2 and an output speed of 83.8 km / h, a value very similar to the recorded performance from the previous SP.

Presented at the Bologna Motor Show in November 1988 and sold in February 1989, the NSR-R ', the faired version of bare F to which it joins in the list. Although R may seem a reversal of strategy than the bare F filed until one year before, it should be noted that, aided by air motion with quiet performance and the technical content of a sports car and a cheaper price than the competition, the F experienced a tremendous commercial success. The reason for the R and 'therefore be sought in the will of men to provide sixteen Honda Sports Motorbike racing fairing and image more of F, but at the same time witness of those technical qualities and dynamics that made the NSR sport bike course, but more suitable for normal use compared to some models ready track "competition.

The NSR-R followed that updates the model F, though curiously not ever officially adopting the name as RII sister naked IFI. In 1991 and 1992, were also prepared two special series in a limited and largely changed in the chassis and engine to participate in the Sport Production championship.

The NSR-R remained in production until the early months of 1993, when it was replaced by NSR-R 22 JC or the keel of Raiden 125.

Price in 1989: 5,180,000 Lira

Changes: Consistent with the presentation of IFI, RL adopt the following amendments:
New six-spoke wheels Grimeca
New front fender more 'subtle
Engine sweetened in the delivery and revised carburetion

The bike soon

The only tangible difference between the F and R, 'of course the fairing and the atypical arrangement of the ignition switch and warning service of the instrumentation - which remains the same - arranged on a "bridge" that crosses the headstock. Note the practical adoption of a seat cover to match the passenger completes the picture more racing offered by R. Everything else remains unchanged from the F.

Cycling

There were no changes with respect to F.

Engine

There were no changes from F except for the adoption of a final report slightly longer to encourage the best qualities of aerodynamic R. According to the findings of the time, the NSR detects a maximum power to the wheel to 26.79cv 9750giri against 27.68cv to 10250giri of F. Since the engines are identical, the slight worsening and 'probably due to different tuning of the engines of the specimens tested. In tests on shooting 400 yards from 50km / h, R recorded a time of 19.281 and an output speed of 100km / h against 20.639 sec 91.550 km / h F. Contrary to expectations and the logical view of the hull and the adoption of a final report elongated, the maximum speed recorded down to 156.2 km / h instead of 160.3km / h recorded by F. In essence, the data collected seem to confirm the differences rather illogical and probably solely attributable to the bike seems to have been proven to be a softening of the performance advantage of the recovery, precisely where R represents a better time than the F and despite the relationship Final stretch! However, and 'once again more likely that the F tested in 1988 had been the subject of a special preparation for printing, to approach the fateful (and never achieved) 31cv originally declared the house Atessa.
