Running for just one year the XR185 when launched in 1979 was the stripped down lighter version of the XL185S. With it’s Tahitian red fuel tank, and vestigal lightweight lighting, was the ‘competitio

n’ enduro version. It’s credentials were emphatically stamped with a six speed box, powerful 185cc engine and superb chassis. In a four machine enduro test in 1979, ‘Cycle World’ stated “We rate the XR 185 as far and away the best of the four thanks to it’s outstanding engine performance, superior suspension compliance and excellent overall handling ability” Because they were made for just one year, rarity has driven up the values of one of Honda’s sweetest enduros from the 1970’s.
