This is not the first time Italjet has made an attempt to enter the motorcycle market. They used to build bikes for Ducati. In the late 60's Italjet
introduced the Griffon 650. This motorcycle used the Triumph Bonneville 650 engine.

When scooters got popular in Europe they began concentration on scooters instead.

By the late 90's scooter popularity started to decrease. In 2000 Italjet introduced the Grifon 900 based on a Triumph 900cc engine, displaying it first
at the Milan show. They later decided not to put the bike into production.
According to thier web site they plan to resurect the bike. In addition, it
appears they are planning to put two 650 models into production in spring 2006. Both bikes are based on the GT650 engine and chasis. There is a Grifon model with handle bars, analog guages and spoked wheels. There is also a stealth black Bazooka model with clip-on handle bars, digital dash and alloy wheels.
