Paton BIC 500 8v RU racer is the works re-edition of BL3 4 stroke twin 1968 model year. After victory in 1967 Italian Championship with Angelo Bergamonti on BL2 type Paton decided, in 1968, to invest money in 4 stroke twin engine development; they brought important updates to their project intending to make it competitive for a long period. In 1968 they raced a different frame fitted bike (BL3 type), with a more up-to-date frame geometry together with a 4 valves per cylinder engine and hidden valve-springs. The engine was tested at first on dyno and then on track by Angelo Bergamonti. This engine was raced in Italian and World Championship by Angelo Bergamonti, Billy Nelson and Roberto Gallina achieving wins and podium placements"
