Ural Gear-Up 2wd Weekender Special Edition
The Gear Up Special Edition returns in 2020 with the 2wd Gear Up Weekender. Weekender SE comes with an easy-to-install optional Ural Accessory Receiver. The receiver mounts on top of the sidecar frame, conveniently centered between the motorcycle and the sidecar without sacrificing ground clearance. This model features the standard 2/3 rider seat, fully equipped sidecar with the windshield, upgraded vinyl tonneau and apron set, universal spare wheel as well as stainless steel sidecar bumper with auxiliary fog lights. The Weekender comes with with two-tone paint, silver trim and slightly different configuration of accessories. Every Ural is hand painted at the factory with a choice of Poppy Red, Sunshine Yellow or Meadow Green.
The Gear Up is an on-demand 2wd that comes with switchable shaft-drive for the sidecar wheel, and a 4-speed plus reverse manual gearbox. The final drive is, of course, a shaft one, with 42 lb-ft (57 Nm) or torque at 4,300 rpm delivered by the 749cc air-cooled 4-stroke boxer engine. Also on the figures side, the engine can produce a maximum of 41 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, but which is more than enough to get you out of the tightest situations. Naturally, sidecars come with a lower cruising speed, and Ural recommends that riders keep under 70 mph (112 km/h). The engine is the upgraded version, with both electric and kick start, electronic fuel injection, and a double-disc dry clutch. The build also integrates adjustable Sachs shock absorbers for both the IMZ leading fork and the single-sided swingarm, plus a 4-pot Brembo caliper in the front, aided by a 2-piston Brembo caliper for the sidecar and an HB rear one, all with NG rotors.
