David Yurman Forged Carbon Motorcycle by MV Agusta

.

A dazzling piece of power, the David Yurman Forged Carbon Moto by MV Agusta which is priced at US$48,000 pairs the intricate art of jewelry and watch design with the precision craftsmanship of a master bike builder. To celebrate his new accessories collection crafted from carbon composite, designer David Yurman teamed up with motorcycle maker Walt Siegl to develop a two-wheel tour de force out of the same material.

The one-off example is a custom MV Agusta Brutale featuring forged carbon for the front fender, rear hugger, triple tree, and brackets, complemented by the use of Kevlar for the fairing and gas tank. The cutting-edge componentry contributes to a cumulative weight of only 305 pounds. Holding power as precious as appearance, the bike is inset with a liquid-cooled 800 cc, 3-cyclinder DOHC engine churning out 162 hp and enabling a top speed of over 180 mph.

Although the motorcycle may be a lustrous loner, the artist’s new line of forged carbon rings, bracelets, and timepieces (accented by sterling silver and black diamonds or gray sapphires) is available at 30 official retail locations, as well as select boutiques throughout the world.

"There’s no profit involved in this at all, whatsoever. Walt is a great bike modifier and sculptor, and I was inspired to call him up and collaborate," says Evan Yurman, who adds that if the bike were priced appropriately, it would cost closer to $250,000.

"If you just take forged carbon and put it in jewelry, that is only a one-way conversation. But if you put it in the form of a motorcycle, something you can use, it becomes a dialogue. So we got to utilize it in a different way that may be considered esoteric to some, but for the people who utilize it as a means to their industry, like Walt, we give them the opportunity to think way outside the box," says Evan.
