Aprilia RSV4 / FactoryPress release issued By Aprilia: The Aprilia RSV4 is one of the most fascinating motorcycle stories in the world. Born with the aim of winning on the track, it has spanned a decade as an absolute queen, winning critical acclaim and laurels in all the categories in which it has raced. In its most extreme evolution, it even raced in the MotoGP World Championship. There is no other superbike that can boast such a pedigree. In a sector where motorcycles are the result of the best technology available to manufacturers, Aprilia has demonstrated exceptional design foresight, creating and subsequently constantly developing a project that has immediately proven to be innovative and successful and remains the point of reference for racing vocation and performance. The Aprilia RSV4 is the best example of what can be achieved by drawing on the precious experience of a winning Racing Department like that of Aprilia which, in its young history, has won 54 world titles, seven of which were obtained by the RSV4 in the SBK world championship. The evolution of this extraordinary model continues, thanks to a renewal that first and foremost involved the style, which is inextricably linked to function. The new design is the result of the great work done in terms of applied aerodynamics, confirming Aprilia's commitment to the study of increasingly complex and innovative solutions, a field in which Aprilia was the first to introduce aerodynamic appendages on a superbike (in the 2018 RSV4 RF LE).
Today more than ever, with the racing bike performance that the RSV4 has achieved, it is important to design aerodynamics that help glue the bike to the asphalt, allowing the tyres maximum grip, exploiting every last horsepower that the V4 from Noale has. The superstructures of the new RSV4 have been completely redesigned, with the dual objective of guaranteeing greater protection for the rider and less air resistance. Two overlapping wing surfaces are introduced for the first time in the part under the fairing; The layout of the new winglets, derived from Aprilia's experience in MotoGP, was developed in the wind tunnel and allows for increased grip on the ground and consequently also precision when cornering, an area where previous versions of the RSV4 have always excelled, in addition to stability at high speeds. The new aerodynamics also allows for a reduction in heat emitted to the rider, also thanks to the introduction of new and more powerful radiator fans. Overall, the new fairing reduces the aerodynamic drag coefficient CX by 6% and the tendency to wheelie by 8% compared to the previous version of the RSV4, providing greater acceleration with less physical effort. The design of the side panels is also new and integrates better with the style of the new tail fairing. The rear light cluster, lighter and more essential, is integrated into the license plate holder; all the lighting functions are performed by the direction indicators. In this way, it is sufficient to eliminate the license plate holder to prepare the bike for use on the track. The new Aprilia RSV4 equipment includes the 5” colour TFT instrumentation with revised graphics and now equipped with a fuel level indicator and new backlit electrical blocks on the semi-handlebars. Also new is the upper steering plate in aluminium, lighter than the previous one, while the already top-of-the-line full Brembo braking system is enriched with the new Hypure front calipers , lighter and more performing than the previous Stylema ones. RSV4 and RSV4 Factory are powered by the Aprilia V4, the world's first mass-produced high-performance narrow V4, the most revolutionary and powerful engine ever built by Aprilia. Despite the Euro 5+ approval, it gains more torque and power: 220 HP at 13,100 rpm and 125 Nm at 10,800 rpm , enough to make the RSV4 the most powerful production-approved superbike in the world. Absolutely benchmark numbers, the result of a refinement of the exceptional V4 from Noale which now adopts a set of 52 mm throttle covers and a new exhaust system with the catalytic converter located in a different position to reduce heat emission to the rider and facilitate assembly of the approved slip-on exhaust terminal, present in the rich range of Aprilia accessories.
For all the new Aprilia V4s, a new chapter opens regarding the on-board electronics that manage the active riding assistance systems. A new generation of control systems, also available as an “in-app purchase” that does not require a trip to the dealer, to have the best electronic configuration depending on your needs and riding style. Aprilia introduces for the first time a series of electronic packages that best combine performance and safety, adding functions and new adjustments to the already very rich RSV4 equipment. The system assists the rider in safely reaching his limits, allowing him to gradually improve. This is made possible by the introduction of new adaptive/predictive components on wheelie, traction and yaw controls. The predictive part of the algorithm processes the vehicle parameters in real time (speed, lean angle, gear, throttle opening, etc.) to prepare the gradual and targeted intervention in advance. In addition to this, the sophisticated software continuously analyses the vehicle's dynamic responses and the rider's riding style in order to offer even more refined and effective control. Both models come standard with the six-axis
inertial platform, the Ride-by-Wire electronic accelerator and 3 riding modes
that manage the 3 levels of Cornering ABS and the controls present in the APRC
(Aprilia Performance Ride Control), the well-known package of control systems
directly derived from racing, which includes:
The Track Pack , standard on the RSV4
Factory, enables: The Comfort Pack , standard on the RSV4
Factory, enables: Furthermore, on the RSV4 Factory, the corner by corner suspension function is also standard . This system automatically changes the electronic settings of the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension , following what the rider sets before going out on the track. The Race Pack and the corner by corner management of the Öhlins semi-active suspension work through the new fourth generation Aprilia MIA , the Aprilia multimedia platform (standard on the RSV4 Factory) that allows you to connect your smartphone to the bike, extending the functions of the instrumentation and downloading the data for analysis.
Aprilia has designed and developed a wide range
of accessories for customizing the RSV4 and RSV4 Factory. Selected high-quality
items, including several carbon components, TPMS tire pressure sensors, numerous
parts made from billet aluminum, and the approved slip-on exhaust by SC Project. Versions and colors
