Moto Guzzi V7 Sport

.

From a press release issued By Piaggio Group:

As it approaches sixty years of history - the first model was launched in 1967 - Moto Guzzi V7 confirms itself as the purest expression of Moto Guzzi DNA: an authentic motorcycle full of personality, a timeless Italian masterpiece that is continually renewed while maintaining its roots firmly rooted.
Since 2008, the year of its rebirth, Moto Guzzi V7 has been the protagonist of a coherent evolutionary path that has allowed it to increasingly gain the appreciation of a transversal and heterogeneous public. After the epochal leap in 2021, with the introduction of the 850 cc displacement, for 2025 the Moto Guzzi V7 range offers significant innovations in terms of both style and technical equipment and expands by bringing a legendary name back to light: alongside the already well-known V7 Stone and V7 Special, the new Moto Guzzi V7 Sport makes its debut, the most technologically advanced V7 ever .
The iconic transverse air-cooled V-twin with shaft drive, a unique configuration in the world, embraces the new Euro 5+ regulation and has been the subject of significant changes, including the adoption of the multi-map Ride-by-Wire accelerator control which, in addition to ensuring more precise and customizable management of power delivery, also brings Cruise Control. Power increases by 4%, but above all it is a much more full-bodied and linear torque curve that guarantees immediately appreciable benefits in all conditions.

The new Moto Guzzi V7 Sport underlines the combination of iconic style and modern technological content: the most dynamic and technological V7 ever produced stands out for the adoption of a new upside-down fork as well as for the double disc front brake, the dedicated Sport riding mode and the inertial platform, which allows for more refined management of traction control and enables the Cornering ABS functionality.

A unique style that finds perfection in every detail
The stylistic balance of the V7, a splendid example of dialogue between shapes that delve into the purest heritage of Moto Guzzi and technological solutions from a contemporary motorcycle, has been further perfected with targeted interventions that enhance its clean and essential lines, placing even more attention to detail and raising the perception of the great construction quality.

While the soft lines of the 21-litre metal tank remain unchanged, the largest in its category, under which the heads of the sculptural 90° V-twin emerge, the new design of the side panels, the shorter rear mudguard and the more aggressive shape of the exhaust pipes give the V7 a more streamlined and dynamic look.

Attention to detail is also evident in features such as the new ergonomically shaped ignition key featuring the stylised “signature” of the eagle.

While remaining the version closest to the spirit of the original model, elegant and rich in chrome, V7 Special abandons the analogue instrumentation and halogen headlight to adopt the full LED lighting system - with DRL daytime running light that outlines the shape of the Moto Guzzi eagle - and the digital instrumentation already present on the V7 Stone.

Manageable via new and more practical handlebar controls, the single circular LCD instrumentation, now common to all models, has revised graphics and is even richer, displaying new functions such as the selected riding mode and the speed set via the Cruise Control. The V7 Sport also features a fuel level indicator.

Each version therefore speaks the same stylistic language, while maintaining its own distinct personality. And this is also the case for the new V7 Sport, which stands out through numerous specific details and dedicated finishes, such as the new light alloy wheel rims with a sporty design, the aluminium headlight supports, the bar end rearview mirrors, the handlebar riser bracket, the aluminium inserts on the side panels and the sports saddle with red stitching.

The most powerful and efficient engine in the history of the V7
There are many twin-cylinder engines in the world, but there is only one transverse V and it is the Moto Guzzi twin , created in 1967 from a brilliant intuition by engineer Giulio Cesare Carcano and characterised by such a particular cylinder configuration that it became an integral part of the design of the bike, like a true contemporary art sculpture.

The construction scheme is the iconic one as always: air-cooled 90° transverse V-twin, with rod and rocker arm distribution and two valves per cylinder, the pride and tradition of Mandello production. The displacement is 853 cc, thanks to a bore x stroke ratio of 84 x 77 mm.

Compliant with the new Euro 5+ regulations and evolved in many ways, the heart of the new V7 range is the most powerful and efficient engine ever mounted before in the illustrious history of this model. Compared to the previous unit, maximum power increases by 4%, going from 65 HP at 6800 rpm to the current 67.3 HP at 6900 rpm , but the most significant increase is in torque, which goes from 73 Nm at 5000 rpm to 79 Nm at 4400 rpm, of which 95% is already available at just 3500 rpm . This obviously translates into much more elastic behavior especially at low and medium revs, increasing both comfort and driving pleasure in daily commuting and fun in more dynamic driving.

The engine control, with a single 52 mm diameter throttle body, adopts the multi-map Ride-by-Wire electronic control for the first time in place of the traditional mechanical throttle control . In addition to allowing accurate throttle opening, optimising overall efficiency and consumption, the Ride-by-Wire control allows you to conveniently manage the electronic parameters - MGCT traction control and response to the accelerator command - through the riding modes. The ROAD and RAIN riding modes are common to all models in the range, while the SPORT riding mode was developed specifically for the V7 Sport.

The adoption of the Ride-by-Wire control has also allowed the use of more aggressive valve lift laws, all to the advantage of performance.

Other changes include the airbox, which has a 27% larger volume, and piston cooling, improved thanks to a different oil jet, a solution that helps maintain the high reliability of the unit despite the increased performance. The exhaust system has also been optimised to make torque delivery more homogeneous, in addition to the inclusion of a third lambda probe for the new functions required by the Euro 5+ regulation.

The other excellent aspects of the engine remain unchanged, with the distribution equipped with roller tappets and aluminum rocker arm control rods and lightweight pistons with 20 mm diameter pins. The Moto Guzzi “small block” is also economical in terms of consumption, having few components that absorb power (the distribution with rods and rocker arms is among the most economical in absorbing power), it does not have a cooling circuit pump, nor long chains or timing belts.

The dry clutch uses a reinforcement disk under the clutch plate and a high-performance clutch disk; there is also a triple-slot synchronization system that allows for the reduction of noise during engagement and transmission play to a minimum, especially in first gear. The final transmission relies on a generously sized double-joint offset cardan shaft with a robust bevel gear pair, which guarantees solidity and reliability in managing the great torque provided by the twin-cylinder.

Complete electronics for easy, fun and safe riding
The new Moto Guzzi V7 benefits from a new and even more complete electronic package, designed to gratify the rider in everyday riding as well as in touring or more dynamic riding. The Ride-by-Wire accelerator brings with it the Riding Modes, developed to make life on board easier and safer.
Each of the riding modes corresponds to a different calibration of the MGCT (Moto Guzzi Traction Control, disengageable) traction control and a different response to the accelerator command, while the ABS, a two-channel Continental unit, is always active on both wheels.

The rider is therefore only asked to choose the way he wishes to travel, safe in the knowledge that Moto Guzzi has developed the best possible electronic setup for each of the Riding Modes.

The following two riding modes are available for V7 Stone and V7 Special:
- ROAD : mode designed for smooth riding that doesn't neglect fun. It features a medium level of MGCT traction control calibration and a progressive throttle response.
- RAIN : ideal when grip is not optimal due to wet asphalt and you want to proceed in maximum safety. It provides the highest level of traction control intervention and a smoother response from the throttle control.

But it is on the V7 Sport that electronics make a significant leap forward, thanks to the adoption of a six-axis inertial platform which, thanks to the accelerometers and gyroscopes contained within it, is able to recognise the condition of the bike in relation to the road; it records and processes inputs deriving from riding and sends the data to the control unit. In this way, the management of electronic controls becomes even more refined and precise, enabling the Cornering ABS and Cornering Traction Control functions , capable of modulating braking and drive power based on the lean angle, to the advantage of safety and performance. Developed specifically for the V7 Sport, the additional SPORT riding mode includes a minimum level of traction control intervention, designed to support exciting riding on dry asphalt in safety , and an engine map with a more prompt and dynamic response to the accelerator.

The ABS, with cornering function, is active on both wheels.

All models in the V7 range are also equipped with Cruise Control , which allows you to maintain the set speed without using the accelerator. To activate the system, simply press and hold the appropriate button located on the left control block.

A chassis designed for riding pleasure, even more advanced on the V7 Sport
Moto Guzzi's expertise in designing top-notch chassis is legendary. The delightful ride of the V7 has distant origins: in 1970, after a very tough series of tests, the V7 Police won the selection to join the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) team, demonstrating the authority of the Larian brand in the field even overseas.

The steel frame maintains the modular double cradle layout and the same weight distribution typical of the recent tradition of this model. The already successful saddle-handlebar-footpeg triangulation remains unchanged, boasting ideal dimensions for riders of any height, thanks to the low saddle and the correct positioning of the aluminum footpegs.

On the suspension front, the V7 Stone and V7 Special maintain the traditional telescopic fork with 40 mm stems at the front, while the V7 Sport debuts a new upside-down fork with 41 mm stems , adjustable in preload, which emphasizes the propensity of this model for a sportier and more dynamic ride. This is also supported by the new light alloy spoked wheels dedicated to the V7 Sport, which are 1.8 kg lighter than those mounted on the V7 Stone , to the advantage of handling.

The pair of generously sized rear shock absorbers, adjustable in preload, ensure ride comfort even on rough surfaces, providing a progressive and controlled response in every situation, even with a passenger on board.

The new V7 Sport also introduces a more powerful braking system for consistently adequate braking performance, even during the most dynamic riding: a double floating stainless steel disc with a diameter of 320 mm works at the front, with radially mounted Brembo monobloc calipers with 4 pistons , all controlled by a higher-performance brake pump.

The braking system of the V7 Stone and V7 Special remains unchanged, but is always ready and adjustable in any situation, with a single 320 mm disc at the front gripped by a Brembo caliper with 4 pistons. All models feature a 260 mm disc at the rear with a 2-piston caliper.

The new V7 Sport is immediately recognisable from the front thanks to its technical features such as the upside-down fork and double front brake disc , which communicate a more dynamic presence at first glance, as do the six-spoke wheel rims with a new sporty design.

There are many dedicated details, such as the refined aluminium support for the front headlight, the aluminium inserts on the side panels and the handlebar riser with a dedicated design and laser-engraved V7 Sport logo.

The sleeker look is also emphasised by the bar end rear-view mirrors , while the dedicated black saddle is characterised by sporty red stitching .

There are two graphic variants: Verde Legnano , the historic colour of the first V7 Sport, and the pastel Grigio Lario shade .
