GSX550EF is the middle class super sports brimming with appeal.

The Rull Fairing GSX550EF with SUZUKI'S 16-Valve DOHC Power Unit Really Knifes its Way Through the Wind TSCC (Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber) Realizes High Power. High Torque and Low Fuel Consumption. SUZUKI'S TSCC design extracts maximum performance from its four-valve per cylinder engines. Two domes with their own intake and exhaust valves are machined in the roof of the combustion chamber for reduced mixture flow separation, generation of two swirls, enhanced mixing when the mixture is jetted out from large squish areas at the end of the compression stroke and more. The centrally located spark plug produces a faster, more consistent bum and the head configuration promotes the smooth discharge. TSCC satisfies in the simplest way the requirements for a high-performance engine: high power high torque and low fuel consumption.

Posi Damp Fork: SUZUKi's new Posi Damp Fork revolutionizes front fork design, combining superb handling with a comfortable ride. A damping Control Unit switches compressing damping force automatically between "soft" and "firm" according to fork travel. A long stroke, caused by large bumps and high speed cornering, causes fluid pressure to exceed the detection spring pre-set loading. A plunger is forced upwards restricting the fluid passage and increasing damping force. Four pre-sets for the detection spring enable the rider to choose the optimum setting for road conditions. Regulated damping which matches ever-changing riding conditions.

Full Floater: Ideal Performance from Innovative Action, SUZUKI's ingenious Full Floater rear suspension features a cushion unit which •floats" between a cushion lever and a swinging arm. Forces from the rear wheel are transformed into rotational movement by the cushion lever depressing the cushion unit, while the swinging arm exerts an upward thrust so that the cushion unit is depressed from top and bottom at'the same time. The lever ratio changes progressively to provide soft cushioning initially, becoming gradually firmer as stroke and damper piston speed increases for the ideal damping characteristics: soft at first, with a smooth, progressive transition to firm.

Lightweight and Strong. SUZUKI'S Box Section Tubing Frame. SUZUKI'S high-tensile steel box section tubing frame boasts light weight and high resiliency. A further innovation is the clever combination of box section members and round pipe members in the same frame The design incorporates a wealth of data from computer stress analysis and SUZUKI knowhow gleaned from the race track The result is a super light frame which has superb balance and resiliency.

16 Inch Front Wheel. Straight from I Track Incredible Handling. Bred for the race track, the 16 inch front wheel can now be enjoyed on the road. It's light weight and low gyro force offers faster, more responsive handling. The smaller circumference shortens braking distance for the same effort. And its tyre, caster angle and suspension stroke are all used to their fullest advantage for fast and safe riding.
