The SV400, launched in 1998, had a liquid-cooled 90° V-twin engine, mounted in an lightweight (aluminum) trellis frame, similar to the TL1000S.

Two model version were available, the naked SV400 with a single round headlight, and the SV400S, with top fairing and two headlight and some other differences, like lower handlebars
