Yamaha XSR 900 Abarth
Yamaha have certainly been one of the most prolific embracers of the new retro scene, and also one of the most innovative at taking their remarkably budget-focused MT range and jazzing it up to appeal to new audiences. Yamaha has teamed up with legendary Fiat tuner Abarth to release the limited edition 2017 Yamaha XSR900 Abarth. Based on the standard XSR 900, the XSR900 Abarth evokes the look and feel of 60s cafe racers, and is inspired by Yamaha’s “Faster Sons” range of custom-built motorcycles. Using the 850 cc, three-cylinder, Crossplane 3 engine that produces 115 hp as a starting point, the XSR900 Abarth has ABS, traction control and a slipper clutch. The single-seat cowl and front fender are made from carbon-fibre, to keep weight down, and a lightweight number plate holder is fitted. A full Akrapovic exhaust system with titanium slip-on end cans is fitted as standard, as are a low-set clip-on handlebars for that proper cafe racer style. The suede and leather seat features red stitching, and along with the XSR900’s unique grey and red colour scheme, give Yamaha “Sports Heritage” machine an exclusive look. Highlights
