Enter a new dimension to the Dark Side of Japan with the Manual Transmission (MT) setting, with slick and sporty finger-operated shifts at the touch of a see-saw lever on the left handlebar. The speed and precision of each shift is more consistent than when using even the latest quickshifter, enhancing the excitement and adrenaline in the sportiest of riding conditions.

Fully automatic shift experience: AT
In the Automatic Transmission (AT) setting, choose between two modes to suit different riding scenarios. For a more spirited ride, opt for D+, offering a sporty and aggressive gear change shifting later in the rev range, or, for long distance or urban rides, D mode delivers a softer gear shift experience.

Switch effortlessly between MT and AT on the move with an intuitively placed AT/MT button on the top of the right handlebar cluster. The handlebar position features two customisable positions, while the footrests are also adjustable. The two-part seat further amplifies the feeling of freedom while riding.

Latest EU5+ 890cc CP3 engine

The remarkable, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine is light and powerful, offering high torque at low rpm. The acoustic harmony which results from a combination of the induction sound and exhaust note gives the CP3 its recognizable roar, which heightens the feeling of acceleration. And with the sporty gear changes enabled by Y-AMT, the CP3 feeling can be enjoyed even more.

Customisable ride modes with Yamaha Ride Control settings
Customise your riding experience via Yamaha Ride Control (YRC), which works simultaneously alongside the Y-AMT, allowing you to select engine power characteristics and the level of electronic intervention to suit your preferences and road conditions. Three integrated riding modes are programmed with factory settings to suit different situations: SPORT, STREET and RAIN; but you can also create two custom programmes to suit your individual preferences. The YRC settings can be customised directly in the dashboard menu or on your smartphone via the MyRide app.

Lightweight CF aluminium die-cast frame
The compact CF (controlled filling) die-cast aluminium frame design is a modern take on the iconic Deltabox layout, providing a high level of chassis stiffness for excellent rider feedback and stability. Its optimised swingarm pivot structure, light and slim chassis give a more laidback feel, making the MT-09 Y-AMT a partner for all kinds of riding. Adding less than 3 kg to the machine, the Y-AMT system is one of the lightest on the market and also adds no width to the engine either, maintaining the lightweight and sporty character of the MT-09.

Brembo radial master cylinder
In order to match the MT-09 Y-AMT’s high torque and acceleration, excellent stopping power is provided by a Brembo radial master cylinder, which produces a linear supply of pressure to the four-piston calipers, mounted to the dual 298mm front discs and offering outstanding braking performance with finger-tip control.
