KTM 1290 Super Enduro R by Jiří Heiník

.

This KTM 1290 Super Enduro R was built by long-time on and off-road racer, Czech Jiří Heiník. This enduro machine is built around the 177hp LC8 engine and frame, from a KTM 1290 Super Duke R, nicknamed the Beast.

Jiří has serious plans to take this bike to the Erzberg mountain. The event is one of the most famous of all the ‘hard enduro’ races, and regularly welcomes 1,500 riders to the event, with up to 500 starting the race together. The main event is the Hare Scramble, and features 35km which the fastest riders will complete in around one and half hours.

In order to carry out the transformation of this street-centric naked beast into a machine capable of conquering the Iron Mountain, he enlisted the help of Prague’s RaceTool KTM — the biggest KTM dealer in the Czech Republic.

To prove the abilities of a 180kg (397 lb), 180 hp motorcycle on the Erzberg mountain, Jiří made modifications such as replacing the track-biased WP units fitted to the Super Duke R with 48mm fully adjustable forks from the Super Adventure.  The longer suspension travel was mandatory for the project, as the street-focused forks of the 1290 Super Duke R were nowhere near fit for the job.

Jiří installed new, bigger Kineo rims, shod with knobby tires for mud, puddles, and rocks, and with the proper suspension setup, the enduro machine has good odds to conquer the “Iron Mountain.”
